Sixth Form Students in the following groups can receive a bursary of up to £1,200 a year:

  • Young people in care
  • Care leavers
  • Young people claiming income support in their own name
  • Disabled young people who receive both Employment Support Allowance and Disability Living Allowance in their own name

Anthony Gell School is responsible for awarding bursaries to students. There is an opportunity for students that do not fit into any of the groups above, to apply for a bursary called a ‘discretionary bursary’.  The school has this flexibility and on application, meets with the student to discuss what help is required.  The School decides when bursaries are paid, and will set conditions that students should meet to receive a bursary, for example, linked to behaviour or attendance.

To find out more about the 16-19 Bursary please see our policy document.
