Course Information The curriculum is designed to:

  • The schemes of work are designed to lead onto the KS4 examination course

Course Content

Course Content
Year 7Schemes of work focus on the use of simple choreographic techniques through the following topics: Urban Dance 1, Cheer 1 and Olympics
Year 8Schemes of work focus on the use of choreographic techniques and skills through the following topics: Urban Dance 2, The Nutcracker! and Study and Community (including chance dance)
Year 9Schemes of work focus on the use of more complex choreographic skills and techniques through the following topics: Power of social media, Free Running and Music Video.

Extra-Curricular Opportunities 

Extra-curricular dance provision and regular theatre visits are fundamental to our success. We offer opportunities for students from all year groups to participate in activities outside of the curriculum through dance clubs and external providers. Students from KS3 and KS4 perform in the annual AGS Dance show.

Assessment 

Practical assessments are undertaken at the end of each unit of work, with extended projects set for each year group.
