Anthony Gell School

Student information

Transport to and from school.

In order to stay safe, we do advise that where possible, you travel to school on foot, bicycle or by car. If you are car-sharing with students not from the same household, you should wear a face covering. If you are using school transport, you must follow these rules and expectations.

Our expectations of you whilst you are on the school site.

In order to keep our staff and students safe at Anthony Gell School, we have completed a risk assessment, which is regularly updated.  There are actions for Senior Leadership, all staff and all students to follow.   The full risk assessment shows the details of all these actions that we've undertaken along with the expectations of our staff and students while attending the school site.

There are guidelines to follow when you come to school, which include the following:

  • Wash your hands regularly, for 20 seconds and wash them well. Use sanitiser where available.
  • Use the designated school entrance to access school site.
  • Remain at a 2m distance at all times, from staff and students outside of your year group.
  • If you need to line up, use the markings available.
  • Follow the one-way systems and markings throughout the site.

Here are a few examples of what you can do to help and what we're doing in school:

You should: We will:
Make sure you feel well: if you have a cough/temperature please stay at home. Check on your wellbeing and if you are unwell in school hours, we will take you to a safe space.
Have the right equipment - your bag needs to have your own books and pens - no sharing allowed.

Remind you to bring the right equipment to school.

Eat food whilst on site - at your designated canteen area or in your bubble area.  You can bring a packed lunch/drinks/snacks or buy food and drink in school, (ensuring funds are in your ParentPay account.)

We are not allowing students off-site at any time, except for exceptional circumstances, due to the risks of contamination.

Provide food and drink (including free school meals for those eligible), remind you of your designated area to buy this from and ensure you eat and socialise in your designated area.  Hand sanitiser is available to use.

Wear a face covering on shared transport and on school site, including lessons. More than one face covering must be brough to school, with a sealed bag. When you are not wearing your face covering in school (which is when you are in a PE/Dance lesson and when you are outdoors), this face covering should be kept in a sealed plastic bag, inside your school bag.

Provide spare plastic bags for this purpose if you need one.

Remind you about how to use a face covering safely

Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds regularly. Particularly at the start of day, before and after eating, after handling equipment and after using the toilet facilities. Remind you about hand washing and as adults, we will also be washing our hands for at least 20 seconds, regularly.
If you need to cough or sneeze, please make sure you do this into a tissue or the crease of your elbow. If you use a tissue, you should carefully place this in the nearest bin. Provide tissues in classes and empty our bins more often.
Follow the signs and maintain 2m distance between yourself and any other person outside of your year group. Remind students of social distancing and help supervise movement through school.
Ask for help and guidance if you are not sure of anything. Make sure you feel well in school and support you.
