Arrangements for Exam Results Days 2019

This page is to you to let you know our arrangements for results days 2019 so that you are all aware of how we will make your results and other services available to you on these days. Staff will be available throughout the morning to assist you.

Dates:

Availability of results:

You can choose to receive your results in the following ways:

Exams Post-Results Services

On both results days we will display the grade boundaries for each qualification. These will show the range of marks  within each grade for each qualification. If you are close to a grade boundary in one or more subjects you will receive a slip of paper in your results envelope to ask you to speak to a member of staff to investigate this further.

Once you have received your results you are entitled to apply for a post-results service such as having the marks recounted or a review of the marking. Staff will be available to speak with you on results day and also when school reopens in September 2019 for the new academic year. Several of the post-results services have deadlines in August and so you must think carefully about whether you wish to request a review and tell us as soon as you can. The details of the post-results services available to you are shown below:

Review of results service 1: clerical re-check

This is a check of all clerical procedures leading to the issue of a result.. This service will include the following checks:

  •   That all parts of the script have been marked
  • The totalling of marks
  • The recording of marks

A clerical re-check costs between £8 and £18 dependent on the exam board. Please note, the outcome of a review of results may lead to a change in marks awarded in both directions, the marks awarded can go down as well as up. The application deadline for this service is 19th September 2019.

Review of results service 2: review of marking

This is a post-results review of the original marking to ensure that the agreed mark scheme has been applied correctly. Reviewers will not remark the script, they will only act to correct any errors identified in the original marking.. This service will include:

  • The clerical re-checks described in service 1 above
  • A review of marking to include
    • A check of administrative errors
    • A check on failure to apply the mark scheme
    • An unreasonable exercise of academic judgement

A review of marking costs between £38 and £49 dependent on the exam board. Please note, the outcome of a review of results may lead to a change in marks awarded in both directions i.e. the marks awarded can go down as well as up. With your permission, the school will fund any request for a review of marking if your mark is 1 mark below any grade boundary. We advise you to think carefully about applying for a review of marking if you are within 3 marks of a boundary. The application deadline for this service is 19th September 2019.

Review of results priority service 2: review of marking

This is a priority request of the review of marking service outlined above.

The application deadline for this service is 22nd August 2019 (A level) and 29th August for GCSE. The deadline for completion of this service is 15 calendar days of the awarding body receiving the request.

You may request a review of results service  for any of your qualifications. These services can only be carried out by applying through the student’s own exam centre (this school). A payment item will be showing against in the account into which the agreed funds should be made. The agreed sum will be shown on a copy of the consent form which each candidate must sign to authorise the school to action the post-results service request.
